Rejected Making default mounts a viable option

Hi all!

I want to suggest some kind of middle ground that could make the default mounts usable without losing out from the premium ones. Oftentimes I find myself unsatisfied with the mounts I have because I would prefer a lion cosmetics-wise, but since I need the attack I'm locked out of options.

What I want to suggest is to find a way to fix this limitation without hurting IS sales, some kind of item in IS that would have a similar cost to a premium pet seal, but it's just a color skin for the mount, while also turning it "premium" within the game's logic, so that you don't lose on the Attack Value. I assume making the current "chromas" do this wouldn't be good for sales, so then at least create a new scroll that can be added on top of the mount with this functionality.

Or it can be some other solution I'm not coming up with, but anything that would be a fair middle ground to this issue would be good. I don't mind having to pay DC, I just want to have the option to use a lion or a wolf etc. and not lose damage just because of a cosmetic preference.

Add an item (80 DC) for players who already own a mount skin, and a bundle (200 DC) — the item plus the skin — for those who don’t.
Edit: The item should only work on mounts that have a skin.

In my opinion it should work even if the mount is cosmetically "default". Maybe someone prefers the default color and it would be unfair if that one is the only one excluded from all of this

Hopefully this gets accepted, it's very sad to have beautiful recolors for base mounts be useless (e.g. valentine's lion) since you get less attack value..

Thanks you for sticking with the idea for so long, we can tell it’s something you’ve all put a lot of thought into, and the desire to have more cosmetic freedom without feeling mechanically punished is completely understandable.

We’ve discussed this internally over time and while we genuinely appreciate the suggestion, we’ve decided not to move forward with a system like this. The main reason is that it doesn’t fully align with the long-term vision of the server’s progression and economy. Mount choice is currently designed to involve a meaningful trade-off between aesthetics and power, and introducing a way to effectively bypass that, even through paid items, would blur some of the distinctions that underpin both balance and progression. Besides that, the idea you’re proposing would introduce a fair amount of hidden complexity on the backend and in player expectations, making other mounts harder to read and reason about over time. We’re also mindful of maintaining clarity between cosmetic expression and mechanical advantage, which is something we’re trying to keep clean and intentional across the server.

The underlying feeling you’re pointing to, wanting more expressive freedom without feeling locked into a single “correct” option, is something we’re aware of, and it’s a tension we’ll continue to think about in other ways that better fit the server’s direction.

When it comes to delaying your in-game progression in anticipation of a suggestion being accepted, that isn’t something we can account for. All player proposals are considered as suggestions only, and there is always a significant chance they may be rejected.

We recommend playing and progressing as the game currently exists rather than waiting on potential changes suggested by other players, as proposed ideas may ultimately not move forward.
