Rejected Adjust Ninja Dagger Animation for Better Farming After Recent Poly Changes

With the recent poly changes, farming as a Ninja has become extremely difficult and causes a significant loss of tempo. The main issue is that Ninjas still use their ranged dagger-throwing animation from mount, which makes it very hard to farm Metin Stones efficiently.

Currently, when farming, all nearby monsters cluster close to the player, but the dagger-throw animation targets at range, leaving close enemies unharmed. This results in the Ninja taking heavy damage and often dying before clearing the mobs, especially now that poly farming is less viable.

Proposed Solution:
Change the mounted dagger attack animation to use a 1-handed sword style melee animation instead of the current ranged throwing motion. This would allow Ninjas to effectively hit nearby monsters when farming Metin Stones, making them more viable and competitive after the recent changes.

Why this matters even more now:
With the latest update, Metin Stones have less dagger resistance, which should naturally make Ninjas stronger for farming. It would be a pity if they still had to switch to 1-handed swords to be effective, since that would make them worse than classes like Sura for this purpose. Let Ninjas benefit from the dagger resistance change without forcing them into a weapon swap that undermines their identity and role.

This adjustment would:

Allow Ninjas to clear close-range mobs instead of missing them with ranged throws.

Let them take advantage of the reduced dagger resistance on Metin Stones.

Keep them competitive in farming efficiency without overshadowing other classes.

Reduce unnecessary deaths caused by being surrounded while locked into a ranged attack pattern.

Overall, this small change would significantly improve Ninja farming without unbalancing PvP or other aspects of gameplay.

I concur with everything you've mentioned so far.

IF the proposed solution gets rejected, I've would suggest that the ninja should receive damage buff on the ground. In doing so, I believe ninjas would be able to still efficiently farm stones.
This is the best solution in my opinion: improve the ninja on foot. A ninja’s damage comes from very high hits per second (HPS); mounting only makes sense if the mount buff is extraordinary enough to offset a loss in HPS. The game’s own formulas make this clear (VA = Attack Speed):

Mounted
  • Daggers & Swords: HPS = 0.018 × VA
On foot
  • Daggers: HPS = 0.021 × VA
  • Swords / Fans / Bells: HPS = 0.014 × VA

What this means for a ninja (daggers):
On foot: 0.021 × VA vs mounted: 0.018 × VA. Since 0.021 > 0.018 for any VA, the ninja always attacks faster on foot - about 16.7% more HPS (0.021 / 0.018 ≈ 1.167). Unless a mount grants ≥ ~17% more damage per hit but reduces total DPS, preventing the ninja from expressing his core strength: rapid, repeated hits. Moreover, as Exeragon correctly said, the the mount animation is broken on ninja!

On the contrary, swords do gain HPS on a mount (0.018 vs 0.014 for swords), which is why other classes may double benefit from it. But for a dagger ninja, mounting isn’t a real alternative - just a weaker version of what the class does best.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to move forward with it at this time.
We feel that the change would be quite significant and could require more overall balancing than we’re prepared to take on right now. We are, however, actively working on an internal approach that we believe may help address this issue, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as those discussions progress.

Warm wishes,
Essence.
