I once got a bug where the UI and chat logged that I got an overcharged diamond but it was no where to be found in my inventory. Did you count the successfull crafts or did you just looked at the count you had in your inventory? Maybe it's the sam bug.

That sounds like you understand it as in this minigame would be the replacement to mining. It should be used as event that has the chance to appear when mining whithin the event time. It's not like you always have to do it.
