Rejected Temporary Speed Server for New and Returning Players

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a suggestion that I believe could really help both new and returning players catch up and enjoy the game more competitively.

Since WoM2 has been open for over two years now, it’s very hard for new players to progress and reach the same level as those who have been playing since the beginning. A temporary Speed Server — with higher rates for experience, drops, and yang — could be a great way to balance this.

Even if it only lasts for a few months, it would give new players a chance to progress faster through the early stages and eventually transfer to the main server with more motivation and experience.

This kind of event would definitely bring more activity, attract new players, and give returning ones a reason to come back.

Thank you for reading, and I’d love to hear what others think about this idea!

Best regards,
Mali

What exactly is harder to progress on an older server?
In my opinion it is easier on an old server since there will be a big market with many differend gear options to buy for early/mid game since high players don't need that gear anymore. I bet it would be way harder to get your hands on a fms+9 30+avg on a fresh server than here where you can even farm map 1 a bit and are able to afford it.

There is also a ref. code new players can use to get a boost in the beginning.

with higher rates for experience, drops, and yang
eventually transfer to the main server with more motivation and experience.

Higher exp rates is not somthing you actually want, except while leveling a pet, since you need to stop at various levels to farm for better gear for the next stage.

In addition, if that server has increased drop and yang rates, everybody would just play and hard grind on that server for maximum money and inflate/deflate the prices if they migrate back to the main server. And if you lock the server so only new players could play on it, then the server would be pretty dead with no market that will make progression even harder.

In my opinion, the server currently doesn’t have a problem with new players or overall player numbers. The current issues are the lack of updates and the general lack of care or passion from the team for the server.

I agree with this take. I will also add the lack of care to add QoL improvements that would have maxium positive impact and close to none negative one.
Better shop search system, crafting system for vitality stone, stacking for spirit stones, updating rewards for some of the events, adding new exciting events, just to name a few. Even some features that would bring them money, like the highly awaited weapon skins XD

Economy will go rip if that speed server has boosted drop rates IF the chars and items get merged to main

The server does in fact have a problem with new players. The number of players on the site is inflated a lot. Who says otherwise is coping hard.

What is the problem with new players? That we don't have any?
The server barely have any new players joining. Since there’s hardly any promotion happening, it’s no surprise. But hey, what do I know? The staff on this server obviously knows better, judging by all the other updates.

The lack of professionalism of the administration, being rude and lack of any inhibitions will certainly not help to gain new players.
And not listening to the community on current and future issues certainly won't keep old players. We just wait for a cash grab in the form of a speed server and we're off to wom3 probably. :coffee:

Oh alright. So it's not a problem about "its to hard for new players" but just that if new players are searching for a server, they don't choose this one.

Since there’s hardly any promotion happening
I mean the Affiliate Program just started and thats already a good amount of promotion.

It's just hard for a server to gain new players in general.
How do you attract new people?
Most of the time it's because a new server pops up and people starting there because everything is fresh and new and they might have a chance to be one of the best players early on.

But just opening new servers sounds like a good idea at first but not everrything is good about it:
- It will split the playerbase between servers. Markets will get smaller than they used to be.
- When the new server isn't new anymore, we have the same problem again
- Merging servers will have a very big impact to the economy, even more if the new server had increased drop/yang rates; Farmable items will decrease in price because of the influx of many items from the new server, mid/endgame gear will become more expensive since many farmable items from the new server will be sold and converted to gear as quick as possible because thats what everyone will do
- If the new server has increased rates AND will be merged after some time, this will urge/force players to play on this new server than the main one since you will generate much more money on it.

Thats exactly how official server are done and you know how often they merge servers because they are dying pretty fast.

How else could you attract new players?
Of course with new and exiting content/mechanics.
But there are many players out there that don't want new stuff because this isn't oldschool. I would really like to see new stuff that isn't overtuned or "free money".

I don't think there is a good answer to that except doing a bit of advertisment and trying to not anger the current players.

I can speak for the romanian metin2 comunity, here best place to look for metin2 content is TikTok, but this server has not a single promoter from the most popular ones ( biggest of them have even 1k+ people on live), and I'll tell you the reason, romanian servers pay promoter with real money, not in game coins, so no big promoter will bother promovating this server if they dont get paid.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for presenting your idea in such a clear way. We understand the motivation behind the suggestion and agree that supporting new and returning players is important for the health of the game. We are constantly making changes, running events and campaigns to help newcomers.

That said, we currently have no plans to open or introduce a speed server at all. Our focus remains on improving the existing server experience and ensuring that all players, new or veteran, can find ways to enjoy steady and meaningful progression, but we genuinely appreciate your input and the thought you’ve put into this proposal.

Warm wishes,
Essence.
