We don't really like the process behind ore refining - both as buyers of Spirit Stones and sellers of Spirit Stones. They take up inventory space, they take shop space, it takes too long to set up a shop with them, especially if many. Still, they are probably one of the best way for very new players to make some yang.
I think the process should be streamlined - but not by making Spirit Stones stackable.
The city Alchemist can crush +0, +1, +2, +3 Spirit Stones - the dialogue says max +3, but +4 works too - in return, we get Crushed Spirit Stones used in various crafting recipes.
My proposition would be the following - to have the specialized Alchemists (those on Guild lands) be able to crush up to +3 Spirit Stones as well, but in return we'd get a specialized, ore-refining powder/item.
The overall effort would still be there up to a degree - you have to pick up the stones and transport them, but instead of having to put them in shop right away, you can go and crush them into ore-refining powder and sell later. The effort is lessened on the buyer's side - easier to buy powder on mass, easier to carry it around when they have 1-2-3 inventories full of ore.
If it's believed that too much of the effort would be lost, the powder result could be made variable as well - in short, you won't get a 1 SS to 1 refine ratio anymore, but variable (to a sensible degree). This would counterbalance the fact that it's easier to carry the weight of tens of stones in a couple inventory slots.
But, in my opinion, the ratio should be kept as to maintain a difference between Crushed Spirit Stones and this potential new item.
