Dear Community,
I would like to propose a significant update to the current fishing system. As it stands, fishing rods feel stagnant and lack any real progression. Even when comparing a standard rod to a specialized item like the
Graphite Fishing Rod, we encounter a major issue: upgrading the regular rod feels meaningless.
The Current Issue
I am aware that the
Graphite Fishing Rod (as a costume/special item) already possesses certain bonuses. However, my question is:
Why don't the standard fishing rods have any features? Currently, when we level up a normal rod, there is no visible or tangible improvement. It feels as though there are
no additional bonuses or hidden stats at all; a +0 rod and a high-level rod feel virtually the same in practice. The lack of visual feedback makes the upgrading process feel like a waste of resources compared to just using a costume rod.
The Proposal: Functional Stats & Tooltip Clarity
I suggest implementing a dynamic stat system for
all rods similar to the attached image. Each upgrade level should provide clear, visible bonuses to the player's tooltip:
- Catching Chance: Increases the success rate of catching a fish once it bites.
- Fishing Speed: Reduces the waiting time for a fish to bite.
- Double Reward Chance: Provides a percentage chance to receive two items instead of one upon a successful catch.
Why this change is needed:
- Closing the Gap: While Graphite rods have their place, normal rods should also provide a sense of progression through upgrades.
- Clarity: Adding these stats to the item description allows players to see exactly what they are gaining, removing the guesswork.
- Engagement: It transforms fishing into a more tactical and rewarding part of the game rather than a repetitive chore.
Question: Could you clarify if the current normal rods actually have any hidden stats? If they don't, would you consider adding these dynamic bonuses to make standard fishing gear a more viable and exciting part of the game?
