One of the best parts of an MMORPG, at least for me, is that sense of exploration and discovery. When everything is marked and spoon fed to players, it starts to take away that core experience. Figuring out where bosses spawn through exploration, asking around, or getting tips from other players creates natural interaction and a real feeling of achievement when you find one ( Lets say there is even a timer if its dead or not on the minimap) . It also gives the community a reason to talk and share info, which is something I feel a lot of newer games are missing.

Adding map icons for boss spawns feels like another step toward the more “newschool” direction, where everything is streamlined and optimized, but the mystery and community engagement suffer for it.

That’s just my take, though. I’d rather see players earn knowledge, not have it marked on a map from day one. Curious what others think

I totally get and even share your perspective, me personally, I don’t need the boss icons either.

But let’s be real: if we want to attract more players — especially those who might later become regulars in boss rotations — we need to lower the initial barrier a bit. Adding boss icons wouldn’t really change much for current farmers who already know the spots and timers. But for newer or returning players, it might be just the push they need to get involved and eventually become part of that deeper community.

The key is to find a balance — to make the game more accessible without losing that WoM2 feeling we all value.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. We’ve discussed this before and decided not to add boss icons, as it goes against the game’s focus on exploration and our own vision of it. We appreciate your input and hope you’ll keep sharing ideas!

Warm wishes,
Essence.
