Proposal: Bring Back the Original Unified Kingdom Map

I would like to suggest reintroducing the ''original server design'' from the previous server version, where Map1 combined all Kingdoms into one large shared map.

This design worked exceptionally well and offered several major advantages:
  • Nearly lag-free performance, even with many players online
  • A large, open, and immersive world that felt alive
  • Highly interactive gameplay, encouraging exploration and spontaneous encounters
  • PvP was easy and natural to start, without excessive travel or setup
  • An outstanding shopping experience, with centralized and active player markets

The unified map made the server feel more connected and dynamic. Players met more often, trading thrived, and PvP interactions happened organically instead of feeling forced or rare.

Overall, this older design provided a smoother, more enjoyable experience and significantly improved player engagement.

Bring it back <3

For reference, this video shows how well the Map worked:

Everyone cried about it when it was here, but it was so good and a stamp on the opinion that WoM2 was not just a server of metin2, but basically how Metin2 should have been, demonstrating the clear vision of the team at the time. It was a testament to how people in Metin only hate change, but it was so good. It is ironic that people want it back. I loved it. +1

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion. At this stage, we’re not planning to pursue changes of this scope, as they would significantly depart from the game’s original vision and current direction. It’s worth noting that several members of our current team were involved in the previous iteration of WoM2, and I, along with many, personally worked on the game design team when this map was first implemented. While it was innovative and engaging at the time, it later revealed certain drawbacks that ultimately had a negative impact on the server. As with many novelties, there are natural trade-offs, and based on that experience, we’ve concluded that, for now, the “merged kingdoms” map isn’t the right direction for the game. That said, we do appreciate the idea and won’t dismiss it outright; it’s something we can keep in mind for the future, even if it’s not something we’re able to implement in the near term. We are always open to change, but we also want to learn from previous mistakes.

Warm wishes,
Essence.
