The recent update that allows converting a few bad graphite fishing poles into a new one didn’t solve the problem with graphite poles. Currently, there are 8 shops across the 3 kingdoms that sell graphite fishing poles, and all of them are useless.

Here are a few ideas to make graphite poles and leftover items more meaningful:

  1. Bonus Changer from Hotspot Chests – Adding a bonus changer as a hotspot chest drop would allow players to reroll or improve bad graphite poles, making them useful
  2. Craftable Skin Chest – Introduce a chest that drops a skin which can be crafted using currently useless items like dead fish or unused upgrade materials, giving these “dead” items real value.
  3. Hotspot Timer Adjustment – Change hotspot respawns to every 45 minutes instead of 1h 10m. This would increase chest frequency, resulting in more skins and encouraging more active fishing sessions.

Also I don't understand the point of a rod breaking to the point where it dissapears instead of being able to scrap it for parts like you'd do with a broken item you can't repair anymore irl...?
Longer hotspots or more frequent, a consistent chance to get the sunken treasure chest (right now it's not very consistent imho, I had hotspots where I got 5-6 chests and others where I got maybe 1), removing random crap drop from the sunken treasure chest... these are all things that could improve fishing experience. As Proteus said, there's like 8 shops in total across the server selling the same sad fishing pole skins and if you wanna fish efficiently, you simply can't.
You can't fish without a skin that has at least "caught fishes are cooked" at tier 4 because you'll catch a yabby in 30min and it'll go back in the water/you'll get a fishbone or a clam ~ which is not ideal considering it's the most expensive fish atm. I'm not saying make it super-duper easy but make it a bit more... practical?

The cost of the Angling Arsenal - 5 Graphite Rod scraps - it's just detrimental to any fisherman out there. You can scrap 5 rods (which must not be ever repaired) with let's say 200+ durability each and 1/2 bonuses for the chance to get a 100-200 durability rod with 1 single bonus.
The Graphite scraps update actually had a negative impact over the Graphite rod market overall - you could see many more + people don't really know which bonuses are worth since most of them still fish the good old way, 2-3-4 hours on end hoping for gold.

Yes, fishing is OP if done right - but if you have 5 Graphite Rods laying around you should have chances to get at least 2 random ones. Somewhat Equivalent Exchange after all.

Hotspot Timer Adjustment – Change hotspot respawns to every 45 minutes instead of 1h 10m. This would increase chest frequency, resulting in more skins and encouraging more active fishing sessions.
I don't know about this, but I would have a glowing icon or something that signals a currently active hotspot. Playing a game with alarms set in the background or having to keep an eye on chat to see the announcement is counterintuitive.
This is also the reason why it takes it so long for people to realize that there's hotspots and then figure out what they are exactly.
Craftable Skin Chest – Introduce a chest that drops a skin which can be crafted using currently useless items like dead fish or unused upgrade materials, giving these “dead” items real value.
I would add this Chest as a reward from trading with the Penguin. You can't really keep Penguin streaks up unless you fish somewhat regularly and, obviously, don't forget to trade with him. So the chance to receive these Chests would be backed by daily effort + regular fishing.
Bonus Changer from Hotspot Chests – Adding a bonus changer as a hotspot chest drop would allow players to reroll or improve bad graphite poles, making them useful
We were, indeed, promised this, more or less, in a past thread. I would also improve the item pool of what's defined as Materials so there can be more experimenting done with fishing. So far, there's pretty much only one strategy to fish efficiently. Low chances of nice stuff with Materials rod would add another level of luck and chance to the game.

I've just saw this post, really graphite rod situation is kinda harsh right now especially for tier 4 fishing(Other tiers aren't that bad w/o a graphite pole). I have a perfect rod for tier 4 but it is the first one since the update Graphite Rod Bonus changers would be huge for fishermans, it'll open a new path to get a graphite rod with good enchants instead of praying to RNG gods for a graphite rod, and that rod to have a good rolls.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. It seems that it is slightly outdated, but nevertheless we'll not be moving forward with it.

I would encourage you to start a thread in the General Discussions category to gather additional insights and perspectives from the community.

Warm wishes,
