I found 2 issues
1. The bait after you catch a fish is not reusable anymore. I don't know if it's intended or it's the event but it was not listed in the patch so I'll assume it's a bug or a stealth nerf.
2. The fishing book that supposedly "doubles the chance of catching all types of fish" doesn't seem to work.
I have tested it for some time and I'll post the results with screenshots.
100 worms with book: 13 fish + 4 minnow =17 fish and 1 ring = 18 things
100 worms with book: 13 fish + 5 minnow =18 fish and 3 dye = 21 things
100 worms with book: 15 fish + 2 minnow = 17 fish and 3 dye = 20 things
No book:
100 worms: 10 fish + 9 minnow = 19 fish and 1 symbol = 20 things (I won't count the wet fishing book because I think it's just luck but for some reason I caught more without book)
100 worms: 13 fish + 7 minnow = 20 fish and 3 dye = 23 things
100 worms: 15 fish + 4 minnow = 19 fish and 2 dye = 21 things
Results
So as you can see out of 300 worms with the book I got: 41 fish + 11 minnow = 52 and 7 random stuff = 59 things
And without the book out of 300 worms I got: 38 fish + 20 minnow = 58 fish and 5 random stuff = 63 things
I have more tests but the post is already long enough so I will just give the results of everything combined, which is a combination of worms and rice from t1 and including the results I already posted above.
So out of 800 bait with the book I got: 88 fish + 35 minnow = 123 fish and 19 random stuff = 142 things
And 800 bait without fishing book I got: 86 fish + 52 minnow = 138 fish and 10 random stuff = 148 things
I used the same fishing pole +5 at the time, same spot, same tier, same bait, same character, no IM buff and I ignored the fact that after every fish caught/randomly the bait would not be used, when that happened I still used a new bait, thus ignoring the fact that the bait was not used.
Also tested to see if there is a difference between having the book equipped at all times or switching it on and off to preserve time, it doesn't seem to make a difference.
In conclusion
I think this is enough proof to show that the fishing book doesn't actually do anything and it was just a waste of money to buy so many.
And with the nerf of bait (which is not big deal for t1 and t2 but for t3 and t4 it's quite a nerf) I hope there will be a fix for this book.
